Dr. Kartikesh Kumar Thakur is a distinguished cardiologist based in Nepal, with more than 15 years of experience & renowned for his extensive expertise in both invasive and non-invasive cardiology. He holds an MBBS degree, an MD in Internal Medicine, and a DM in Cardiology, all from Tribhuvan University's Institute of Medicine in Maharajgunj, Kathmandu with academic excellence and had received gold medal for MD internal Medicine for highest TU score for his batch. He had also awarded with Bidyabhusan Ka for his excellence in DM cardiology degree from TU. In his professional capacity, Dr. Thakur serves as a Consultant Cardiologist at the Shahid Gangalal National Heart Centre, a leading cardiac care institution in Nepal. His clinical interests are particularly focused on interventional coronary and structural cardiology including coronary angiography, coronary angioplasty, ASD and PDA device closure, mitral and pulmonary valvoplasty, pacemaker and ICD implantation, transcatheteraortic valve implantation ( TAVR) in which he has made significant contributions. Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Thakur is actively involved in academic and research endeavors. He has co-authored several research publications, including studies on the intersection of acute myocardial infarction and diabetic ketoacidosis, highlighting his commitment to advancing medical knowledge in his field.
He has taught thousands of students including DM cardiology residents, MD internal medicine residents, health assistants, nursing students. he has also written book chapters, guides for his students in medical fields.
